JANO 2020

About JANO
During January, 2010, Sleuths’ Ink held it’s first-ever JANO challenge. Modeled after the popular National Novel Writing Month in November, JANO begins in, you guessed it, January.
Participants are challenged to write a 50,000-word novel during the month of January. Join us and kick off the new year with a novel.

Two good reasons we picked January:

1) You get an extra day to write. To complete 50,000 words during January, you only need to write 1,613 words a day.

2) The holidays are over. Winter has set in. What better way to spend a long, dreary month than writing a novel?

JOIN US FOR JANO 2020!

Sleuths' Ink will hold its TENTH Annual JANO beginning January 1, 2020. Please join us and kick off the new year by writing a new novel or adding new words to a work in progress.

Rules: There may be no actual writing on your JANO novel until January 1, but you may plot your novel, create character sketches, and do research before January 1. On that date, begin writing like mad (no editing) the entire month in order to reach the 50,000-word goal.

YOU MUST BE A PAID MEMBER OF SLEUTHS' INK BY FEBRUARY 8TH TO QUALIFY FOR PRIZES.

NON-MEMBERS MAY PARTICIPATE FOR A $10 FEE, AND MAY ALSO ATTEND THE PARTY AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZES.

THE CELEBRATION PARTY - February 8th, at 11 AM at The Library Center.  LUNCH INCLUDED

Prizes will be awarded for

$100 prize for the most words over 50,000 words

$50 prize for two more people who reach 50,000 words. Everyone who reaches 50,000 will be entered into the drawing for $50 prize

Best two-sentence pitch will receive a $25 prize

Best blurb will receive a $10 prize

Most Interesting title will receive a $10 prize.

Redoing cover for 2nd edition of "Murder @ the Black Mesa Cafe" Book 1. Summer Farnsworth and I met a great photographer at the Neosho autumn fest book signing.

Going to writer's retreat this weekend in Neosho. Hybernating the rest of November and December. During NANO 2019 I'm experimenting with Dragon Naturally Speaking and Scrivner combo. Wish me luck. So far it's amazing. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Finishing my book 2 "Murder @ the Black Mesa Salon" editing now and publishing it before February 1, 2020, just in time for Branson.

New book 3 "Murder @ the Black Mesa Dance" So far got the research done, story grid outline is done in one day, and the blurb is done, and the lead line. Working on the new character's background (haven't picked out names yet for new people). I've been putting in the word "villain", nerd, BFF for names-lol. I want to do a 50 K rough draft on book 3 "Murder at the Black Mesa Dance" during JANO 2020.
